The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing the end-to-end finance function across financial accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, compliance and reporting. As the Financial Controller and a key 2IC to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, driving process improvement and providing commercial support to the broader business.

Leading a team across finance operations and financial accounting, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong control environment, delivering accurate and timely reporting, managing external audits and driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and reporting frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing a high-performing finance team across accounting, payroll, receivables and payables
• Managing month-end, year-end and statutory reporting requirements
• Overseeing external audits, taxation compliance and regulatory lodgements
• Maintaining a robust internal control and governance framework
• Driving improvements across finance systems, reporting and operational processes
• Supporting budget, forecasting and business planning activities
• Managing key external stakeholder relationships including auditors, banking partners and regulatory bodies
• Providing financial analysis and strategic support to senior leadership
• Leading finance-related projects and change initiatives across the organisation

This is a highly visible role that combines technical accounting excellence, people leadership and continuous improvement within a complex, fast-paced environment.
  
The Candidate
You are an experienced Financial Controller or Finance Manager who thrives in a hands-on leadership role.

Your background will include:

• CA or CPA qualification
• Proven experience leading and developing finance teams
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory reporting, tax and compliance
• Experience managing external audits and financial control frameworks
• Demonstrated success driving process improvement and systems enhancements
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, GST and taxation requirements
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across a business
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience within a medium to large, multi-faceted organisation will be highly regarded, particularly where you have led change, strengthened controls and improved finance operations.
