About the Organisation Our client is an ASX-listed business operating across multiple sites nationally, delivering specialist services in partnership with a broad base of professional stakeholders. The organisation maintains consistently high standards and brings together a team of specialists in a structured, outcomes-focused environment. Recent changes within the finance function have created an opportunity for an ambitious accountant to join at a pivotal time
The Role You will be responsible for month-end financial reporting across multiple business units, including journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and management reporting. You'll support statutory reporting requirements and work closely with external auditors during annual and half-yearly audits
Day-to-day, you'll maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensure consistent application of accounting policies, and prepare BAS and FBT returns. You'll contribute to budgeting, forecasting and business case scenario modelling, working with stakeholders across the business to provide financial insights that inform decision-making.
There's also a genuine focus on continuous improvement. You'll be expected to analyse large volumes of financial data, identify opportunities to streamline processes and controls, and leverage technology and automation to work smarter.
This isn't a static role — you'll have input into how the finance function evolves. Over time, there will be exposure to different areas of the business through role rotation opportunities, giving you breadth of experience and a clear line of sight to progression.
The Candidate You have approximately four years' experience within a Big 4 or Mid-Tier chartered firm and are either CA/CPA qualified or well progressed. You're technically strong, comfortable working with complex datasets in Excel, and bring a disciplined approach to financial reporting and controls. You're also looking for more than technical work. You want to understand the business, contribute to decision-making, and see the commercial impact of your analysis. You're adaptable, comfortable with changing priorities and systems, and prepared to challenge processes when there's a better way forward. You communicate well with non-finance stakeholders, enjoy working as part of a team, and are ready to take on responsibility in a commercial environment where your development is actively supported.
