About the Organisation Our client is an established Australian manufacturer and distributor with over 70 years of operation, supplying products across commercial, industrial and residential construction and building services markets nationwide.
The business has built its reputation on product quality and technical support. As they continue to invest in expanding their product range and performance standards, they're creating a new Management Accountant role to strengthen their finance function and support the next phase of growth.
The Role Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll take ownership of the monthly management accounts cycle and play a key commercial role across the business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate and timely management accounts and reporting packages for the leadership team
- Providing variance analysis against budget and forecast
- Coordinating the annual budgeting process and working closely with department heads to monitor performance
- Maintaining and developing the costing framework, including standard costing and overhead allocation
- Monitoring manufacturing costs, conducting cost reviews, and analysing product profitability
- Supporting inventory valuation, stock reconciliations, and WIP reviews
- Providing financial analysis and support across Operations, Warehouse, Stock Control, Procurement and Sales
- Driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
This is a hands-on role with broad cross-functional exposure. You'll be embedded in the business — not just reporting on it.
The Candidate To be considered for this role, you'll bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- 4–5 years' experience in a management accounting or similar finance role
- CPA or CA qualification, or working towards completion
- Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts
- Strong variance analysis and commercial reporting capability
- Advanced Excel skills and a high attention to detail
- Experience in a manufacturing environment — essential
- A solid understanding of cost accounting, Bill of Materials (BOM), and inventory management — highly regarded
- Working knowledge of ERP software (MYOB, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
You're proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating in a hands-on environment where you're close to the product and the operation.
