Job Description
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Our client is an established national agricultural services business with operations across livestock, wool and real estate. Having grown substantially through acquisition, the organisation is now executing a deliberate integration program — standardising processes, clarifying structure, and building the operational foundations to support continued growth. It is a business with deep roots in regional Australia and long-standing relationships with the farming communities it serves.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a newly created position with broad operational scope across shared services — livestock and wool administration, facilities, fleet, and workplace services — and four direct reports.
The business has expanded faster than its current structure. This role exists to close that gap. You will define roles and duties, map processes, and drive operational consistency across a multi-site national business. You will act as the CFO's operational right hand: owning cross-functional coordination, resolving issues without unnecessary escalation, and ensuring execution follows through.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to step into work directly where required, maintain service levels through periods of change, and provide the CFO with clear, practical reporting on workload, risk, and improvement priorities.
THE CANDIDATE
You bring ten or more years of experience in operations, shared services, or business support leadership, with a demonstrated track record of leading teams, improving processes, and implementing controls.
You are a practical and decisive operator — comfortable working at pace, managing competing priorities, and maintaining standards under pressure. You manage budgets and supplier relationships with discipline, communicate effectively across all levels of the business, and follow issues through to resolution. You have the credibility to challenge entrenched ways of working and the judgement to implement change that sticks.
Importantly, you are someone who connects well with people outside the corporate centre. The business serves farming communities across regional Australia — branch teams, agents, and clients who value straight talk and reliability over polish. You will need to earn their trust as readily as you do the boardroom's.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
A newly created senior role with genuine scope and autonomy, providing critical support to the Executive Leadership Team through a significant transformation program. Broad responsibility across multiple operational domains, direct CFO access, and a real mandate to drive change in a well-established business that continues to grow. Sydney CBD with hybrid working arrangements and occasional national travel.
